ASC Administrator Development Program: Mentee Information

Hybrid Class (May 2023–April 2024)

Application Period: January 17–February 28, 2023

Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2023-2024 hybrid class.

Mentee applications for the hybrid class must be completed and submitted with a resume/CV and one letter of recommendation from an individual with whom the applicant has interacted while engaged in service to the ASC community.

Applications submitted without a resume/CV and letter of recommendation or past the deadline above will not be considered for the hybrid class of the 2023-2024 program.

Applicants will be notified by March 15, 2023, if they have been accepted into the program. A maximum of 30 applicants will be accepted into the hybrid class.

Please note: Applications for the 2023-2024 virtual class will not open until this summer. If you are interested in applying for the virtual class, please do not submit your application until July 17.

Mentee Qualifications

To qualify for participation in the program, applicants should have two years or less experience as an ASC administrator, or currently work in an ASC and be interested in becoming an ASC administrator.

Please note: The program is intended for new or prospective administrators; it is not designed to be prep for the CASC exam.

Program Expectations

All mentees in the 2023-2024 hybrid class must agree to the following:

  • Attend the ASC Administrator Development Track at the ASCA 2023 Conference & Expo in Louisville, KY
  • Commit to an average of 2–3 hours each month, including:
    • 60- to 75-minute check-ins via conference call with the assigned mentor to review the current month’s assignment and discuss the next month’s assignment. (It is recommended for this discussion to be via video, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc. Other as-needed calls can be done either by video or phone.)
    • the four 30-minute on-demand webinars listed below (one webinar per quarter):
      • Secrets of an Effective Leader: Things No One May Have Told You (Yet), May 2023
      • From Administrator to Advocate: The Crucial Role of ASC Administrators in State Advocacy, August 2023
      • The Administrator's Role in Business Office Oversight, January 2024
      • Key Considerations for New ASC Leaders to Reduce IT Challenges, April 2024
    • Complete all assignments in the program as outlined in the next section.

Mentees must commit to completing at least 80% of the assigned work (calls, webinars and assignments) in order to successfully complete the program.

Assignments

Mentees will be expected to complete 11 assignments throughout the program year. The assignments will be based on content presented on the topics below during the ASC Administrator Development Track at the ASCA 2023 Conference & Expo. With the exception of attending ASCA 2023, each monthly assignment should take approximately 1–2 hours to complete.

*While mentees may attend the opening and keynote sessions, they are not eligible to attend other educational sessions at the ASCA 2023 Conference & Expo. Mentees may also attend pre-conference workshops; pre-conference workshops require separate registration fees and, other than the workshop listed above, are not discounted.

Additional Benefits

  • Consistent mentor-mentee communication to share feedback regarding the program
    • Monthly check-ins via conference call with matched mentor to discuss assignments
    • Additional conference calls and emails as needed when issues or questions arise (calls are not to exceed three per month for a combined total of 30 minutes)

Program Price

If your application is approved, you can participate in the program for the price of $995 (ASCA members) or $1,195 (nonmembers).

Cancellations

All cancellation requests must be submitted via the online registration cancellation form. Through May 12, 2023, refunds will be given minus a $50 administrative fee and $125 for the costs of the publications. No refunds will be given after May 12, 2023.
