According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a total of 5,124 (93.4 percent) of the 5,485 eligible facility National Provider Identifiers (NPI) that can bill Medicare under the ASC payment system and were required to participate in the ASCQR Program met all requirements and will receive the full ASC fee schedule increase factor.

With violence and intimidation threatening to destabilize the healthcare workforce, support for federal legislation to criminalize such behavior is growing, said stakeholders during a congressional briefing hosted by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Hospital Association on Tuesday. ACEP President Aisha Terry, MD, MPH, of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., said she was sitting at her computer doing chart work when she heard a loud thump.

In a settlement larger than Halifax and Tuomey combined, an Indianapolis-based health system recently settled with the Department of Justice for $345 million to resolve Stark Law and False Claims Act allegations relating to its employed physician compensation arrangements.
