ASCA affinity partner Ambulatory Surgery Innovations (ASI) aims to identify start-up companies with the best technology solutions being developed today and match them with ASCA members. The U.S. government said on Friday it has urged states to make interim payments to healthcare providers that were hit by the cyberattack at UnitedHealth's unit Change Healthcare. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' new guidance allows states to start making interim payments retroactively to the date when claims payment processing was disrupted due to the cybersecurity incident, the federal health agency said.

Despite evidence that ambulatory surgery is safe with faster recovery compared to in-patient hospitalization, surgeons in low- and middle-income countries like Uganda have been hesitant to embrace this practice. Kyabirwa Surgical Center is the first freestanding ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in rural Uganda. We aim to report the impact of a rural ASC since its establishment, in alleviating surgically-treatable morbidity within its catchment area.
