The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued a proposed rule that would increase quality care for Medicare recipients while significantly reducing unnecessary spending. The calendar year 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule would advance primary care management through new quality measures, reduce waste and unnecessary use of skin substitutes, and introduce a new payment model focused on improving care for chronic disease management.

Reports from ASCA’s 2025 Salary & Benefits Survey are now available for purchase.

This survey allows ASCs to compare their compensation packages to similar ASCs, negotiate a raise or determine salary and benefits for a new position. As the Trump administration continues its push to deport undocumented immigrants, doctors are hearing that some patients are avoiding getting the health care they need over fears that Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids could take place in medical settings. Dr. Céline Gounder, CBS News medical contributor and editor-at-large for public health at KFF Health News, told "CBS Mornings Plus" on Tuesday that she has not seen any official ICE raids in hospitals, but that ICE agents have been seen in hospitals as well as other health care facilities.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists calls on UnitedHealthcare (UHC) to reverse its profit-driven plans to cut payments for anesthesia care supporting sicker, more complex patients. Beginning October 1, 2025, UHC plans will no longer consider the unique health status of each patient when it comes to anesthesia care payment.
